In less than three months on the market, Thomas Chipman corn chips have just won the coveted "Best New Retail Product" award in Australia.

At an award ceremony in Melbourne on the 11th of September 2006, Thomas Chipman beat a wide field of Australian manufacturers to take out the Retail World 2006 Best New Retail Product award in Australia.

Exhibiting at the Fine Food Show in Melbourne, literally hundreds of enquiries were made regarding Thomas Chipman - from Saudi Arabia to the United States of America....Thomas was hot property...and we are sure that we will quickly add to the export orders already recieved from Ireland, New Zealand, Japan and Singapore.....

We also recieved many words of thanks and appreciation for the development of this brand from consumers who have already made Thomas Chipman their choice of Corn Chips initially because it is organic and gluten free, but now because they love the superior taste of the Thomas Chipman range of corn chips...
Packaged food, margarines and even chiko rolls may soon carry warnings about their trans fat content, which research has revealed can increase the chance of coronary heart disease by more than 20 per cent.

But Rosemary Stanton and other nutritionists say food regulators should go further and adopt the Danish standard, banning all products with more than 2 per cent trans fat. "Manufacturers don't have to have this stuff. They can process their fats by other methods, its just a bit more expensive" Ms Stanton said.

Clinical trials conducted by Oxford University recently published in the British medical journal found that a 2 per cent increase in the consumption of trans fatty acids can lead to a 23 per cent increase in coronary heart disease.

Trans fats are added to most fast foods and to a range of baked supermarket goods, confectionary and sandwich spreads, to improve taste, texture and shelf life. continued.
Footnote from Thomas Chipman.

The oil used to cook Thomas Chipman corn chips is certified to be non hydrogenated, and independent laboratory tests in Australia show the trans fat level of our finished product to be an negligible 0.024% per 100g of chips. In many countries this would be considered a "No Trans Fat" product.

PRESS RELEASE - Thomas Chipman has arrived

      Launch date: 1 JULY 2006

LOCAL SNACKFOOD INNOVATION FILLS MARKET NEED

To satisfy the growing number of consumers seeking more natural food alternatives, a local company has produced Australia's first fully certified organic and certified gluten free corn chip.

Developed over 12 months by Yarra Valley Snack Foods, a wholly Australian owned and operated company, the Thomas Chipman range of corn chips is designed to appeal to consumers in a rapidly growing segment.

Made from organic whole grain corn, the chips are cooked in an organic vegetable oil. This special non hydrogenated, expeller pressed oil is produced without solvents, which means there is no chemical residue, as found in regular solvent extraction oils. Thomas Chipman corn chips are also GMO free, cholesterol free and contain no added msg or artificial colours, flavours or preservatives. There are currently two flavour varieties - Low Salt Original and Splendid Cheese.

According to Managing Director Andrew Blain, the new product has been developed in keeping with the cooking principles of a past era, when food ingredients were high quality, natural and free from preservatives and chemicals.

Everything from ingredient sourcing, processing, artwork and packaging has been guided by tradition says Blain.

We think it's significant, that with the numerous calls from consumers and retailers alike for a product like this, the answer has come from an Australian owned and operated company. We're proud of this achievement and the official Australian made logo is displayed on our products.

A further innovation to delight retailers is the smaller case size (8 units per box), combined with the clever shelf ready display case perfect for merchandising from the box, both on the shelf and off location.

There is simply no other range of corn chips or snack foods like the Thomas Chipman brand. Stores would be well advised to make space either in their snack food or health food section for this unique Australian product.
