LOCAL SNACKFOOD INNOVATION FILLS MARKET NEED
To satisfy the growing number of consumers seeking more natural food alternatives, a local company has produced Australia's first fully certified organic and certified gluten free corn chip.
Developed over 12 months by Yarra Valley Snack Foods, a wholly Australian owned and operated company, the Thomas Chipman range of corn chips is designed to appeal to consumers in a rapidly growing segment.
Made from organic whole grain corn, the chips are cooked in an organic vegetable oil. This special non hydrogenated, expeller pressed oil is produced without solvents, which means there is no chemical residue, as found in regular solvent extraction oils. Thomas Chipman corn chips are also GMO free, cholesterol free and contain no added msg or artificial colours, flavours or preservatives. There are currently two flavour varieties - Low Salt Original and Splendid Cheese.
According to Managing Director Andrew Blain, the new product has been developed in keeping with the cooking principles of a past era, when food ingredients were high quality, natural and free from preservatives and chemicals.
Everything from ingredient sourcing, processing, artwork and packaging has been guided by tradition says Blain.

A further innovation to delight retailers is the smaller case size (8 units per box), combined with the clever shelf ready display case perfect for merchandising from the box, both on the shelf and off location.
